Become a Member
Application for membership in Northwest Energy Angels (“NWEA”) is open to Accredited Investors (defined below) who are interested in financing early-stage cleantech companies. The benefits of membership include high-quality deal flow, shared due diligence and access to a powerful network of experienced cleantech, high-tech, finance and other professionals who are dedicated to moving the U.S. to a sustainable economy. NWEA members invest in most types of businesses that are considered clean technology. Note that member funds are not pooled; each member makes his/her own investment decisions.
NWEA welcomes experienced angels and venture investors, as well as new angels who can learn by participating in a cooperative due diligence/funding process with more experienced members.
An individual is an Accredited Investor, as defined under Rule 501 of Regulation D under the Securities Act of 1933, if he or she has either a net worth with a spouse that exceeds $1,000,000, or an individual income in excess of $200,000 in each of the two most recent years or joint income with a spouse in excess of $300,000 in each of those years and has a reasonable expectation of reaching the same income level in the current year.
NWEA is a non-profit corporation and incurs considerable expense in providing member services and benefits. We have a part-time Executive Director. Our corporate sponsors provide significant support for the organization. The balance of expenses is paid for by an annual membership fee, which is currently set by the NWEA board of directors at $1,000 for individuals.
Please follow these steps to apply for membership on-line:
Step 1: Click on this link: https://www.gust.com/angel-group/nw-energy-angels/join. A small pop-up window will ask you to verify that you are an Accredited Investor (if you are not, you are not eligible to apply and must stop here). If you are, click the “I’m An Accredited Investor” button at the bottom of the pop-up window. This will open a new Gust account/log-in page.
Step 2: Register with Gust (or log-in if you already have an account)
Investors new to Gust must create a new account by typing in your first and last names, email address and password (twice) in the “New Users” block. Returning Gust users must log-in under “Returning Users”. When you create a new account (or returning users log-in), the NWEA Member Application form will open.
Step 3: Read the representations, acknowledgements and warranties that are binding for all applicants
The top section of the NWEA Member Application page contains a number of representations, acknowledgements and warranties that legally bind you when you by submit an application. You must agree to all of them or you may not submit an application.
Step 4: Complete and submit the member application
Please fill-in the blanks and answer the questions in the application form. Required fields are marked with an asterisk which includes writing or copying and pasting a brief professional biography. You may choose to write a short cover letter and upload a photo of yourself. The more information you give us about yourself, the faster your application can be processed. You may save your partially completed application by using the “Save” command on the top menu bar. When you are done and ready to submit your application for review by the NWEA Board of Directors, click the yellow “Submit Application” button located at the top, right-hand side of the page.
Thank you for applying. If you have any questions please contact us.
